The Puget Sound Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology, The Edmonds School District, Giant Campus and the Alderwood Rotary have joined forces this summer to make technology education available for all children.
Seattle, WA – The Puget Sound Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology,
the Edmonds School District, and Giant Campus, and the Alderwood Rotary
hosted a four-day technology camp for children for the Edmonds School
District SAIL program (Student Adventures in Learning). The technology
training was facilitated by Cybercamps, a division of Giant Campus, a
national leader in technology education. The Alderwood Rotary, based
in Lynnwood, WA provided funding for transportation.
Nearly
50 students ages 14-17 participated in hands-on, innovative curriculum
focused on many aspects of technology including, web design, game design,
3-D animation, robotics, digital arts, and programming. Courses ran from
August 6th to the 9th from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM at the Puget Sound Center’s
Canyon Park facility and were taught by Cybercamps staff. The collaboration
furthers the sponsors’ pursuits to make technology education available
for all children.
Funding
for this unique partnership was provided by a grant from the Department
of Housing and Urban Development to address digital divide issues. For
