Puget Sound Center’s Cisco Regional Academy honored by Cisco Systems, Inc.

BOTHELL, WA
At the annual Cisco Academy Networkers Conference in Orlando, Florida, Koko Morgan, Director of the Cisco Regional Academy, received an award from John Morgridge, Cisco Systems’ Chairman of the Board for success in providing learning opportunities to local Cisco Academies. The Center was one of 15 academies chosen from the thousands of Cisco Academies in the United States.

During this past school year, Cisco Academies have been given the opportunity to participate in projects sponsored by Cisco Systems, Cisco Learning Institute, and a joint effort between Cisco Learning Institute and TECH CORPS Washington entitled Skills4Success.

This two-year pilot project involved volunteers with technical backgrounds who shared their soft skills job experiences with the students. Soft skill topics included teamwork, attributes for success, and understanding the workplace. Koko Morgan participates as a volunteer enabling students to increase awareness of the skills needed to successfully compete in and contribute to the Information Technology workforce.
