The Kentucky Girls STEM Collaborative Project’s vision is to network girls and girl-serving organizations across the Commonwealth to build a stronger science, technology, engineering and math future workforce in Kentucky.

The University of Kentucky, the lead organization for this Project, is a public, research-extensive, land grant university dedicated to improving people's lives through excellence in teaching, research, health care, cultural enrichment and economic development. Led by University President Lee Todd, UK researchers are addressing the commonwealth's most-pressing issues by concentrating their efforts on four areas that will impact the lives of all Kentuckians: public health, economic development, educational opportunity and agricultural innovation.

In 2006, a new statewide Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Task Force convened by the Council on Postsecondary Education held its inaugural meeting in Frankfort. The task force is charged with developing a statewide strategic action plan to accelerate Kentucky’s performance within the STEM disciplines from preschool through graduate school. This taskforce recognizes that statewide collaboration is necessary to advance the lives of Kentuckians. The Kentucky Girls STEM Collaborative will work closely with this task force to achieve its goals.

We are pleased to be partnering with the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Kentucky – Sue Ellen Grannis, Kentucky President. Contacts with other organizations and universities throughout Kentucky are underway
