Collaboration Interests
These are types of collaboration your Program might be interested in undertaking when collaborating with another Program or Programs.
Collaborating Programs
The Mini-Grant Applicant selects, by Program name, one to four Programs (in the NGCP public Program Directory) as Collaborating Programs. Mini-Grant Applicants should know Collaborating Programs’ name(s) in the NGCP Program Directory and have discussed the Project thoroughly with each of them.
Lead Program
To apply for a Mini-Grant, there must be a single Lead Program, registered in the Program Directory by the person applying for the Mini-Grant (Mini-Grant Applicant). The Lead Program's location determines who reviews the Mini-Grant Application. The Lead Program must be publicly viewable in the Program Directory. Mini-Grant Applicants need to know the name of the Lead Program.
Organization Name
‘Organization’ refers to an entity that has at least one girl-serving program operating within it. (It is possible that a Program and Organization have the same name.) The Program has services / activities to offer, and/or services / activities it would like to find.
Here are examples of programs and their organizations:
Program: Clean Green Power
Organization: Girl Scouts of Western Massachusetts
Program: Tech Trek Camp
Organization: American Association of University Women (AAUW) California
Program: Robotics with Girl Appeal
Organization: Cumberland Middle School (Cumberland, WI)
If you want to enter your organization, but do not have a specific program to enter, please list your organization as both the ‘Program’ and ‘Organization’.

Project Evaluation
The 'Project Evaluation' section will capture the types of assessment activities involved in the Mini-Grant Project. It will also ask whether a Mini-Grant Project engage one group of participants for a week or longer. The answer to this will help determine the type of evaluation efforts required for the Mini-Grant Project.
Project Budget / Budget Item(s)
The maximum Mini-Grant award is $1,000. In 'Project Budget' you may request up to $1,000 as well as matching funds. The total of the itemized 'Budget Item(s)' must equal the 'Amount Requested' plus the 'Amount of Matching Funds'.
As with most grant programs, the NGCP Mini-Grants must meet criteria for acceptable use. Generally, NGCP Mini-grant funds will be allowable for the following:
- Food (refreshments for meetings, lunches for participants, etc.)
- Transportation costs (buses)
- Educational software
- Hardware related to educational activities (robotics kits, etc.)
- Essential project/activity supplies
Uses of Mini-Grant funds that are not allowable under these guidelines include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Alcoholic beverages
- Indirect charges
- Capital expenditures
- Computer hardware (servers, desktops, laptops, etc.)
Project Contact Info
The 'Project Contact Info' comprises the name, e-mail address, and phone number for one person who will serve as the Mini-Grant Project contact if questions arise during the review process.
Project Description
The description of a Mini-Grant Project, including information about the role and contributions of collaborating partners, project design, population to be served, and activities or methods used that demonstrate integration of Research Based Strategies. The 'Project Description' will appear in public listings of funded Mini-Grant Projects.
Project Goals
The 'Project Goals' statement is a concise (2-4 sentence) presentation of the broad outcomes / goals the Mini-Grant Project, if successful, will achieve.
Project Objectives
The 'Project Objectives' are one to four carefully-structured, measurable objectives that target a specific audience (the online application will assist applicants in writing these objectives).
Project Title
The informative 'Project Title' identifies the Project that will be carried out with Mini-Grant funds if the Mini-Grant Application is approved and funded. The 'Project Title' will appear in public listings of funded Mini-Grant Projects.
Research Based Strategies
'Research Based Strategies' are informal learning, and assessment & evaluation. Mini-grant applicants are required to focus on one of these strategies.
Resources/Activities available through your program
'Resources/Activities available through your program' are those that you would offer when collaborating with other Programs in the Directory. In the public Program Directory, searching on a specific 'Resources/Activities available through your program' returns results for Programs that have selected the specific Resources/Activities.
Example: You select 'Mentoring.' When searching the Program Directory, a search for Programs that offer 'Mentoring' includes your Program in the results.
Resources/Activities needed by your program
'Resources/Activities needed by your program' are those that you would hope to find through collaborating with other Programs in the Directory. In the public Program Directory, searching on a specific 'Resources/Activities needed by your program' returns results for Programs that have selected the specific Resources/Activities.
Example: You select 'Computer access.' When searching the Program Directory, a search for Programs that need 'Computer access' includes your Program in the results.
Web Only / All-States Resource
Programs that provide resources via the Web and/or to Programs in any state check a box indicating “Web-only / all states resource” when entering Program information. Then, when someone is searching for Programs, they are able to check a box to “Include Web-only / all-states resources” in their search results.
Note: Large, national organizations with field or affiliate offices should not assume that checking this box replaces registering field / affiliate offices. If a field / affiliate has a Program that offers (and needs) resources, it should be entered on its own.
